Basic Rhythm – Tabla is a beginner-friendly course designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of the tabla, one of the most versatile percussion instruments in Indian classical music. This course covers the structure of the tabla, including the Dayan (right drum) and Bayan (left drum), and their role in creating rhythmic patterns.

Students will learn basic tabla bols such as Dha, Dhin, Na, Tin, Ta, and Kay, which form the foundation of tabla compositions. The course emphasizes proper hand placement, finger techniques, and playing posture to produce clear and crisp sounds. Learners will also explore Taal (rhythmic cycles), starting with Teentaal (16 beats) and Keharwa (8 beats), practicing simple compositions such as Theka and introductory Kaida variations to build coordination, rhythm, and fluency.

Offered in both online and offline modes, this course is ideal for beginners, music enthusiasts, and aspiring tabla players who wish to develop a strong foundation in tabla playing. By the end of the program, students will gain the confidence and skills to accompany music, perform basic compositions, and continue towards advanced tabla techniques and improvisations.
