Advance your understanding of Hindustani classical music with the PRABHAKAR Second Year course, designed for students who have completed the foundational level and are ready to deepen their theoretical and practical knowledge. Led by Tashi Ashwin, this program focuses on Dhwani, Naad, Aandolan, Shruti, and Kampan, providing students with a thorough understanding of musical sound, tonal variations, and rhythmic nuances. Learners will study the origin and characteristics of Dhwani, Niyamit and Aniyamit Aandolan, Sthirta and Asthirta movements, and High-Low Aandolan with number relations, enhancing their musical sensitivity and precision.

The course covers types of songs, including Bada-Khayal, Chota-Khayal, Dhrupad, and Lakshan-geet, exploring their components such as Sthai, Antara, Sanchari, and Abhog. Students will gain detailed knowledge of Janak Thaat, Janya Raag, Ashraya Raag, Grah, Ansh, Nyas, Wakra Swar, and the significance of Vadi-Swar in relation to Raag timing, Poorvang-Uttarang, Tigun, Chaugun, Meend, Kan, Sparsh Swar, and Wakra Swar.

Raga Parichay includes a complete introduction to first and second-year Raags, practicing their Swar Lipi notation, along with Thaat, Aaroh-Avaroh, Jati, Pakad, Samay, Varjay Swar, and Alap Taan. Taal Parichay covers all Taals of the two years with writing practice in Thah, Dugun, and Chaugun.

The program also provides knowledge of Bhatkhande Swarlipi, identification of Raags by written Swars, analysis of similarities and differences between Raags, and insights into the musical contributions of Tansen and Amir Khusro. Practical training includes Swar-Gyan, focusing on recognizing and singing Shuddha, Komal, and Tiwra Swars, ensuring students develop both theoretical understanding and applied performance skills.
