Designed for beginners as well as intermediate learners, the course begins with the basics of finger placement, scale exercises, and note recognition, gradually building up to raag-based playing, chord understanding, and melodic accompaniment. Students will learn how to play alankars (musical patterns), simple compositions, and gradually move toward raag development, taal coordination, and improvisation techniques. Emphasis is placed on correct fingering, hand coordination, and expression, along with the ability to accompany vocal music or perform solo pieces.
Learners will also be introduced to notation reading (sargam or staff, depending on context) and basic theory of Indian music.
